The Hammerhead House is located at the street end of a fire access turnout (hence the name) on a steep upslope parcel in the Studio City hills. The 3-story, L-shaped house derive its organization form the topography of the site and the strict constraints of hillside zoning. The first and third levels of the home contain the entry and living programs, respectively, and are each organized to open onto adjacent landscape areas. The private space on the mid-level is captured by a sweeping wood volume which counteracts the curvature of the street-level turnout. A long lap pool and spa terminate the upper level terrace with generous views of the Valley below.
