skyline guest house | hollywood hills, ca

Attempting to tame the 8 acre rugged terrain surrounding a magnificent Spanish colonial main house, the design for this new 2 story guest house serves as a programmatic bridge to connect the main dwelling to disparate parts of the unused site and creating a recreational landscape along the way. Guest living quarters and a media room occupy the lowest level, maintaining access to an outdoor landscape terrace, while at the second level office, kitchen and dining functions are flanked by an indoor outdoor gallery. External circulation elements ramp along the perimeter and upward to a recreational roof terrace containing a pool, spa and lounging areas which are designed to support the lower level functions of the existing main dwelling.
